Benigoi or Higoi are Koi that are solid red and now produced to good quality at Madan Koi Farm, When buying a Benigoi, look for solid Hi. Check the fish over for any old scars or bad scales, for these will take away from the look of the Koi.

Benigoi (pronounced BEN ee goy) A non-metallic solid red or orange colored fish.  Their fins can be either completely red/orange or tipped with white. Those with white tipped fins are also referred to as Aka Hajiro.  Another commonly used name for Benigoi is Aka Muji.  This variety is from Kohaku lineage and is mostly produced in Kohaku spawnings.
