WINTER SHOP UPDATES
Over the winter season, with the opportunity that presented us we have upgraded our Koi holding systems, we have new lighting above all, new tanks for most of the systems and spray bars have been added with our new bottom drain skimmers (as we like to call them)
We have also given the store and koi systems a new coat of paint, which we think looks fantastic! I’m sure everybody will agree??!
GET INVOLVED WITH CASCADE
We would like to give our new and existing customers the chance to get involved with this trip, so if there’s anything you would like to see, or know then please leave a comment either on our blog or on one of our Facebook pages below
WAITING WITH EXCITEMENT!
We are at the airport, waiting for our flight with excitement!
We have a few things running through our minds while we are sat in the bar debating the trip, will there be enough quality there in the numbers we need?! Will there be the varietys in the large quantities our customers want?! But all this adds to the excitement of the trip.
We will update the Blog when we land, dont forget to get involved with the Blog and Facebook with the pictures/video’s you’d like to see while we are on the trip
We will leave you with our plane picture for now, catch you all later when we’re in Israel
28/01/202o Day 1
Recharged from the nights sleep, we woke ready for the day ahead, although the weather was a little overcast we couldn’t contain our excitement!!
First on the agenda today was a pre visit to MadanKoi to view the bio secure 4″ to 10″ Koi
we were greeted at the door and taken into the indoor system and was shown a random mix of each size set
We had a quick look at what was available for us to hand pick, we was quietly confident that we could get the boxes we had set out to get and more
If anybody has seen the new breeding out of the new extended SBS system you’ll know they’re super quality, we were ushered over to a holding tank where we were given first option on a lovely mix, without hesitation we instantly bought the whole vat.
we can’t wait to come back on Thursday!
Next stop Koikin
In our heads this is where we’d purchase the majority of our Ghost Koi and we wasn’t disappointed, the colour on these Koi is superb, with skin quality in abundance.
we were met by Danny who gave the group a tour of the facility, we then began to have a more indepth look at the quality that was on show, the ghost Koi are available in great numbers and a range of sizes.
We had a look at the butterfly koi and was shocked to see the quality that’s available at reasonable prices, we purchased a limited number of these last year, which sold out fast, so again another pleasant surprise!!
Keep a look out on our Facebook page for pictures when these arrive next week
The main visit today picking hand selected Koi of 4″ to 10″ in Hazorea’s bio secure facility.
We were greeted with drinks and food and supplied with the new Hazorea ‘we are flexible’ T-Shirts which Gary takes full credit for, before heading to the fish houses.
A lovely selection had been pre setup for the groups visit, which gives a rough idea of how the year has gone for them breeding wise.
We got right into the mix as the guys at Hazorea had already put aside some high grade koi for us to pick through ( A special thanks goes to Gary at GAC for sorting the visits and this particular offer for us) picking through the range of sizes, we instantly was very happy with the quality available for us to hand pick from, we soon got to the amount of boxes we had set out to buy, but the variety and the quality was that good we had to carry on, we’d of regretted leaving that many high quality koi behind, we may have to extend the shop at this rate as this was only Day 1!
The guys at Hazorea couldn’t do enough for us, as we spent most of the day in and out of the holding ponds, they kept adding more koi into the mixes and keeping us fed and watered, we enjoyed talking about the parent sets they’d used and the day to day running of the farm, it’s always great to speak to like minded people who have a similar drive and passion.
Here’s a few random pictures from throughout the day

Vats and vats full of Koi of different grades

Discussing the finer details of koi selection
All in all very happy with our selections as we think you’ll be when they land in the UK next week, some weird and wonderful varieties for you to choose from.
A great day, with great people, picking good value quality Koi for every budget.
We managed to have a little walk around the goldfish holding tanks and one thing we noticed was how deep the colour was on this years batches, we look forward to seeing them in our systems.
We must thank Gary and the guys at Hazorea for a lovely evening meal, in the most beautiful restaurant.
We spoke indepth about their plans for the future going forward and the quantity of boxes they’ve sent out over the last year, which is over 5000!! And their decision to not grow Koi over 14″ in size.
A very interesting conversation and we can’t wait to see what they do in the coming years.
Tomorrow is another exciting trip as we start to purchase hand picked Koi in the bigger sizes, so keep peeled for the next instalment
28/01/2020 Day 2
The weather had taken a turn in the night, we woke up to a very wet Israel, this didn’t dampen our spirits as we had a busy day planned and a lot of driving ahead.
First stop was MadanKoi to do a pre visit on the hand pick 10″ plus Koi that Aviv had prepared for us.
We had a quick look through the vats and chatted briefly among ourselves about the quality and numbers available.
Tomorrow we will be hand picking at MadanKoi so make sure you stay tuned!!
We jumped into the car and set off for Kfar Ruppin (Dag Noy) en route we had the chance to stop in at Colors Farm which we grately accepted as it give us a chance to hand pick some quality Oranda.
Colors is quite a small set up, but had huge quantities available for hand picking, we grabbed a net and got on the hunt
Did somebody say Oranda? 😁
We picked out enough for a box, all we can say is ‘some really beautiful unusual Oranda available at a very large size
Please contact the shop on 0161 764 3760 to reserve anything you’ve seen!!
A lovely drive through Israel towards the Jordan border we arrived at Dag Noy, we didn’t know what to expect as this is a farm we didn’t get many from, numbers wise over the last couple of years.
We entered the fish house, where we was greeted and shown to the hand picking vats, it’s a nice fish house to pick in, with plenty of natural light you can’t go much wrong
We picked sizes 10″ to 20″ and we was blown away with the quality the farm has produced, particularly the skin quality which was outstanding
The hand pick begins!!
We spent hours discussing the pro’s and con’s of each Koi we selected, below is a few pictures of the picking selection
No words are needed for the Sanke and Hi Utsuri above, but I will say is the skin quality is the best we’ve seen for a long time!!
On reflection, we’ve probably had the best bowl of koi we’ve had in the last 10 years, if ever before today, this is how highly we rate these Koi!!
We finished up hand picking and chatted about our favourite Koi of the day, we couldn’t keep the smiles of our faces, Dave even bought a number of lovely Showa, although he may not admit this!!
We had a little time spare so we had a wonder around the outdoor ponds, the wildlife we seen was amazing
As we were saying our goodbyes with the sun setting, we heard wild coyote callling around us, what an experience seeing them in their natural environment!!
The night wasn’t over, we met Aviv of MadanKoi who treated us to a meal out, which we enjoyed throughly..great conversation and great food..doesn’t get much
What a great day…
